Getting started

When you first open Solace, you’ll walk through a short onboarding flow that asks for two permissions:

After onboarding, pick a focus mode on the Home tab (the apps and sites you want blocked), then tap Start Focus and scan your tag.

My tag isn’t scanning

Screen Time permission didn’t stick

If you denied Screen Time access during onboarding, open the iOS Settings app, find Solace in the app list, and enable Screen Time. Then restart Solace. You can also re-run onboarding from the Debug section of Solace’s Settings tab.

I need to end a session but my tag is missing

Open the Settings tab inside Solace and tap Emergency Unblock. You have a limited pool of these per install — they’re meant for real emergencies, not for bypassing your own commitments.

The alarm won’t turn off

That’s intentional. Solace alarms can only be dismissed by scanning your NFC tag. If you’ve lost your tag, force-quitting Solace will silence the alarm as a last resort, but you’ll want to get a replacement tag before relying on the alarm again. The alarm feature requires iOS 26 or later.

Do I need to buy a special tag?

Any NDEF-writable NFC tag will work with Solace. We sell Solace-branded tags optimized for this, but you’re free to use your own. The app doesn’t validate a specific tag UID — any scan counts.
